Actor Ben Affleck was banned from playing blackjack at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas when he was busted for “counting cards”. The practice isn’t illegal but casinos have the right to ban anybody they think have an unfair advantage playing their games. Back in 2001, Affleck took home over $800,000 from the same hotel. It doesn’t seem fair … I bet if he lost $800,000 they would have treated him like royalty!
Halley’s Comet isn’t scheduled to be visible to Earth until 2061 but if you want to see a part of the comet, you’ll be able to do so between the hours of 3am and 5 am tonight and tomorrow. You’ll need to look up toward the south-southeast sky. In our hemisphere, 20 or so meteors will be visible per hour. They are chunks of Halley’s Comet, known as the Eta Aquarids. This is all a result of the Earth moving through the dust of Halley’s tail. If you miss it, it will be visible again in October.
The federal government expects to fall $470-million short of the funding it needs to fight wildfires this year. The Interior Department and the US Forest Service said in a report to Congress that they need $1.8-billion and lawmakers only allotted $1.4-billion. They will have to borrow funds from other areas (such as recreation and forest restoration) to make up the shortfall. I scream bullshit! We can find money to give to foreign countries but we can’t fund wildfires in our own country? That just isn’t right!
A seven-year-old boy found several small bags on the floor by her Grandmother’s washing machine and put them in his pocket. While at school in the Philadelphia suburb of Thorndale, a teacher found the bags and called the police. They arrested 56-year-old Pauline Bilinski-Munion as the bags contained heroin! Way to go Grandma!
