I am 100% pro-gay rights. That said, I 100% disagree with what happened to photographer Elaine Huguenin in New Mexico. Ms. Huguenin has photographed hundreds of “traditional” weddings but refused to shoot a wedding album for a lesbian couple saying it would violate her religious beliefs. She was charged with violating New Mexico’s antidiscrimination law that requires businesses to serve customers and clients without regard to their race, religion or sexual orientation. You mean as a business owner Ms. Huguenin had no right to turn down a client? What happened to her rights and her freedoms? I understand why the law was made and in some circumstances would be needed to protect people but in this case it’s a joke. I guess Ms. Huguenin should have taken the job, took terrible photos and gave the couple a shitty looking album. At least she wouldn’t have been sued.
Congratulations to the University of Connecticut Huskies who defeated the Kentucky Wildcats 60-54 in last night’s NCAA’s Championship game. Led by senior guard Shabazz Napier, the Huskies became the first #7 seed to win the title. Played in AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the crowd of 79,238 was the largest to ever see a college basketball contest. Tonight, the UConn ladies play for the crown against Notre Dame in Nashville, TN with both teams coming into the game undefeated.
The spring season is upon us and that means more shitty weather. After one of the hardest winters in history, we are now starting “Tornado Season”. Yesterday two people died as severe thunderstorms dumped heavy rains in Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi. If you live in the Midwest and SE United States please make sure you are prepared for bad weather because you know it happens every year around this time.
The Reverend Al Sharpton was an FBI informant who had dealings with Mafia figures in the 1980′s in New York. He recorded conversations and worked with a joint task force. He also worked with the FBI when they were investigating boxing promoter Don King. So I have multiple reasons to think he’s a first class douche bag!
Last but not least …. You gotta love this! A charity hockey game between New York City police and Long Island firefighters included a bench-clearing brawl that featured multiple punches and referees doing what they could to break up fights. I wonder what charity they were playing for? …. AirAsia Airlines withdrew their in-flight magazine this month as it had an article saying their well-trained pilots would never lose an airplane. They said the article was printed before the loss of Malaysia flight 370 …. YUM Brands (the company that owns KFC) is testing a new chicken restaurant called “Super Chix” that will offer a more premium chicken menu than KFC …. Have a great Tuesday!
