Drivers should be able to legally drive 75 mph on most interstate highways after the state of Florida Senate voted 27-11 to raise the speed limit from 70 mph. The Department of Transportation will decide what areas of roadways the new limits will be used. The measure was opposed by AAA Auto Club South but should allow Florida to join 14 other states that have a maximum speed limit of 75 mph or faster.
This news should make women happy. The Food and Drug Administration has approved a genetic test as a first-choice screening option for cervical cancer. The decision means Roche Pharmaceuticals can market its Cobras HPV Test to detect the Human Papilloma Virus in women 25 years and older ahead of the Pap smear test.
Say What?? A Brevard County elementary school has stopped a long-standing practice of serving students Mountain Dew before taking tests. The school would serve the kids a small amount of trail mix and a paper cup of the carbonated soft drink before taking FCAT tests. Principal Kathryn Eward started the practice 10 years ago after reading about positive effects the combination had in students taking tests saying it gets them excited and ready to concentrate. Today, the kids get trail mix and water!
