This is crazy but a fatal fungal disease has killed millions of North America bats and has been detected in half of the United States. Officials said the disease known as “white-nose syndrome” has spread rapidly since it was first discovered in 2006 near Albany, New York. So far, there is no cure. Bats provide a huge economic and ecological benefit by feasting on nuisance insects.
I don’t understand it but Stephen Colbert (49) will be taking over as host of The Late Show on CBS. Maybe it’s me, but I just don’t see him in the same class as Jay Leno, David Letterman, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel or even Seth Meyers. Colbert has hosted “The Colbert Report” for the past eight years and before that “The Daily Show” on the Comedy Central Network. I guess with that background, he’ll do a good job despite what I think.
Let’s hope this is just a little bump in the road and the bubble isn’t getting ready to burst … NASDAQ suffered its worst one-day percentage decline since 2011 and has the stock market world on their toes today. Intense selling was the norm yesterday led by Facebook (down 5.2%), Car manufacturer Telsa (down nearly 6%) and Alexion Pharmaceuticals (down 7.5%). The market finished down 129.9 points (3.1%) and caution will be used today!
Last but not least … A woman was arrested for throwing a show at Hillary Rodham Clinton during a speech she was giving in Las Vegas. The former First Lady ducked and the shoe missed hitting her. The US Secret Service arrested the woman and she will face criminal charges …. The Masters Golf Tournament is in full swing at Augusta. The first day leader was Bill Haas followed by Louis Oosthuizen, Bubba Watson and last year’s champion Adam Scott …. This weekend’s NASCAR Race will be the Southern 500 at Darlington, SC …. have a fantastic weekend!
