Alcohol sales were up 4.4% in 2013 reaching $22.2-billion in sales! American Bourbon / Whiskey was the biggest gainer with a drop-off in beer sales also helping hard liquor’s rise. A few reasons for the increase include the fact that 39 states now allow liquor sales on Sunday. The Distilled Spirits Council Commission of the United States said that more and more states are relaxing bans on Sunday sales. Many states today also allow in-store tastings and almost all states have stopped the restriction of alcohol bans on election days.

A near record Burmese python was found in the Everglades yesterday. Inspectors were testing levees in the area and stumbled upon a monster 18 foot, 2 inch python. The all-time Florida record is 18’9″ and that was found last year in the Everglades. A Harley-Davidson motorcycle that was donated to Pope Francis by Willie Davidson will be auctioned off at the Grand Palais Auction House in Paris today. The bike is 2013 Dyna Super Glide and is estimated to bring around $20,000. The money will be donated to charity. How cool would it be to ride a bike that was once owned by the Pope ???

A New York clinic that put over a half billion dollars worth of oxycodone pills on the streets was busted yesterday. Astramed Physicians, 1228 Southern Blvd. in the Bronx was run by Dr. Kevin Lowe and filled over 30,000 fake prescriptions since 2011. The doc put over $12-million in his pocket before the bust. There were numerous fights, assaults and complaints at the facility as patients were always fighting bouncers and staffers over pills and cash.
