The State of Florida might have a few more casinos in its future as House Speaker Will Weatherford has decided to soften his stance on the matter. The new proposal will allow casinos in South Florida but prevent the industry from expanding further by requiring a statewide voter referendum on future plans. In other words, let’s make sure no casino’s are in Orlando because Disney would get upset and let’s stick it up the ass of Tampa and Jacksonville! I don’t understand why our state is so anti-casinos when 38 states have them. We let millions of dollars leave our state for Biloxi, Tunica, Atlantic City and Las Vegas.

CVS, the nation’s second largest drug store chain, has decided to stop selling tobacco products. The move will cost the chain over $2-billion a year in sales. The company says that since they added “Health Care Centers”  in their stores, the selling of tobacco products doesn’t make sense. The 7,600 stores will stop selling cigarettes, cigars and chewing tobacco by October 1, 2014. Walgreen’s (the nation’s largest drug store chain) and Wal-Mart both still sell tobacco products but Target does not.

Clay Aiken (American Idol runner-up) is running for Congress in North Carolina. The 35 year old singer/actor/teacher will face two other people in the Democratic primary election … Former Saturday Night Live cast member Victoria Jackson filed for a county seat in her community just outside Nashville, TN. Jackson says she is a Tea Party Conservative and is greatly disappointed in the Republican Party. Good luck to both!

A trail date of March 3 has been set for Justin Bieber’s Miami escapades that got him arrested on charges of driving under the influence, resisting arrest and driving with an invalid license. I don’t know how but … Bieber’s attorneys filed a plea of not guilty! The 19-year old punk was arrested on January 23 and should have also been charged with illegal drag racing. Police say a toxicology test detected marijuana and Xanax in his system.

Last but not least … Four people were arrested in the Phillip Seymour Hoffman probe. Hoffman was found dead in his New York apartment with a heroin needle stuck in his arm. Police traced the drugs to an apartment in the Chinatown area of Manhattan and made the arrests … Radio Shack is closing close to 500 stores nationwide. The chain is trying to reinvent itself as a younger, hipper destination filled with entertainment gadgets and devices … Birthday wishes go out today to singer Bobby Brown (45) and actor/comedian Tim Meadows (53) … have a great Hump Day !!!
