Tonight is the premiere of “Late Night with Seth Meyers” at 12:35am on NBC. Meyers takes over Jimmy Fallon’s old show after he replaced Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show”. I guess if you want to succeed in late night television you have to do your time on Saturday Night Live like Fallon and Meyers. You can also see SNL alumni Fred Armisen lead Meyer’s band! Also tonight, “The Voice” has its season premiere with judges Usher and Shakira joining Blake Shelton and Adam Levine.
Congratulations to Dale Earnhardt Jr. as he won the Daytona 500 yesterday after a weather delay of over 6 hours. It was Junior’s second Daytona victory and he was crazy happy after winning the crash-filled race. Denny Hamlin finished second and Brad Keselowski was third. NASCAR goes cross country to Phoenix for next week’s race.
The Olympics are finally over! I know they only happen every four years and I will admit I loved watching them but damn …. 14 days is crazy! I can’t wait for my usual television shows to return and I’m kinda tired of hearing about how great Sochi is and I really don’t care about the Dutch speed skaters. That said, Russia won the most medals with 13 gold and 33 total … USA finished second with 9 gold and 28 total and Norway was third with 11 gold and 26 total medals. Canada won the hockey tournament and never trailed in any game they played.
A Salvation Army outlet in Pennsylvania found a surprise in the pocket of a bunch of clothes turned into the facility. Workers found a large bag of marijuana stuffed inside a pocket. Sugarcreek Borough Police said it was a substantial amount of pot and are looking for the donor. Something tells me if they find that person it won’t just be to thank them for the clothing they donated!
A Nicaraguan court is spending over $600 to prosecute three men for stealing two bananas! The court wants to make sure they let people know you can’t steal from fruit vendors. The cost of the bananas …. thirty two cents!
Last but not least … The oldest survivor of the Holocaust died last weekend in Great Britain. Alice Herz-Sommer was 110 years old. She passed away a week before her story of surviving two years in a Nazi prison camp is up for an Oscar Award … speaking of being old, actor Abe Vigoda turn 93 today … Have a great Monday!
