The Oscar Nominations came out this morning and the movies “American Hustle” and ”Gravity” grabbed 10 noms each. They were followed by “12 Years a Slave” with nine nominations. The 86th Academy Awards will take place March 2. Movies up for Best Picture include the three listed above along with: “Captain Phillips, Dallas Buyers Club, Her, Nebraska, The Wolf of Wall Street and Philomena”.
Apple will refund over $32.5-million to customers who kids purchased in-app perks while playing games. Without parents knowledge, kids were able to purchase things like virtual pet food, chest of gems or weapon upgrades on their mobile devices. According to the Federal Trade Commission, Apple didn’t make it clear that there was a cost associated with the purchase. The FTC also said Apple will need to make the cost of purchases clearer. If your kid played Dragon Story, Tiny Zoo Friends or Tap Pet Hotel you should see if they purchased anything.
J.C. Penney says it will cut 2,000 jobs and close 33 stores across the country including the store at the Gulf View Square Mall in Port Richey. The chain has been losing money for years and these changes should save more than $65-million annually. In other money matters Bank of America said that its 4th quarter profits jumped to $3.44-billion. Damn … I hate banks !!!
Last but not least … Pop star Ashlee Simpson is engaged to Diana Ross’ son Evan Ross. Simpson and Ross have been dating since June. Ross is currently filming “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1″ … For all you nut jobs out there, “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” returns to television tonight on the TLC Channel at 9pm … “American Idol” concludes its two-day premiere tonight on Fox … have a great Thursday everybody!
